Georgian Downs - Community Relations

Community Action

We believe that actions speak louder than words, which is why we always look for tangible opportunities to become involved with our community partners and organizations. By getting out there in our community to volunteer, help out, and give back our time, we strive to create a positive impact and produce visible results that ultimately help local organizations make our communities stronger for everyone to enjoy.

December 1-12, 2017 - Georgian Downs 12 Days Of Giving

During the first 12 days of December 2017 the staff at Georgian Downs Racetrack participated in the Great Canadian Gaming Proud Program to help usher in the Holiday Spirit of Giving. Our challenge was to complete 12 days of random acts of kindness. The staff came together to help raise funds for Barrie Native Resource Centre Christmas Hampers, Community Living Association Simcoe County and Barrie Out of the Cold. We also collected and delivered items to Barrie Youth Haven, Thornton Food Bank, Barrie Out of the Cold and Furry Friends Cat Shelter. Team members also visited seniors at the Lakeside Retirement Home in Innisfil where they greeted the residents with Christmas cheer, cards and treats. Racetrack teletheatre guests were pleasantly surprised by treats and sandwiches distributed by staff.
